After 15 years of serving the community, McD’s, the beloved garden and home retailer, has closed its three stores in Galway and Cork. Known for its vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, McD’s was a leader in its sector and a cornerstone of local communities.
McD’s journey began with its first store in Loughrea in 2009, expanding to Galway City in 2019 and later to Cork. The sudden closure announcement is a shock to retail in Ireland, with incredibly challenging rates, energy, water and staffing costs.
The community remains grateful for McD’s contributions over the years.
This closure marks the end of an era and highlights the ongoing struggles faced by local businesses in today’s economic climate.
