40 years after last closing as a power station, 10 years after starting redevelopment (£9B in costs), Battersea Power Station opens today as the latest first class shopping destination in London. Over 60 retailers have joined the space with the likes of Apple, Nike and Zara opening their latest concept stores.
With all the original power station features restored and a lift to the top of one of the chimneys, which has been turned into a viewing point, will no doubt peak a lot of public interest. All of the stops have been pulled out, with even a new tube station built for the development. With the uncertain winter ahead, it will be interesting to follow how the new development performs.
